What better gift can parents give their unborn baby than the benefits of a healthy and happy pregnancy? This program offers parents trying to conceive and current expectant parents clear and comprehensive information on maintaining great nutrition during pregnancy based on traditional wisdom and modern science. The goal of this class is to ensure that everyone gets off to a good start. (2 Sessions)
During this class we will:
· Come to understand the research showing how important nutrition is to growing a healthy baby
· Learn how to choose the best foods for fertility and a healthy pregnancy
· Learn what food toxins to avoid
· Learn to incorporate into the diet special pregnancy foods that were sacred to healthy traditional societies

Newborn hearing screening has become a routine newborn procedure and is considered the best way to detect and address hearing loss in one or both ears and avoid subsequent delays in language developement.

This series meets for 6 consecutive weeks to explore the instinctive art of giving birth naturally with an emphasis on out-of-hospital birth. (Although these classes are appropriate for those desiring a natural, unmedicated birth in hospital.) Topics include: Emotional Preparation, Massage, Relaxation, Labor and Birthing, Coping and Comfort Techniques, Postpartum and Newborn Care, and Breastfeeding Basics.

Guerrilla Midwife depicts the courage of mothers and midwives as they hold hands across barriers of language and culture, guiding us toward a reinvention of medical protocols. It is the story of a war waged gently in the belief that peace on earth begins at birth. Follow Ibu Robin Lim into the trenches of her work from Bali, where hemorrhage after childbirth is a leading cause of death, into the Tsunami disaster zone in Aceh, where her battle is fought with only one weapon: love.

Kate Besleme, born and raised in Missouri, is a doula and midwifery student working in Bangkok, Thailand who will also share her experiences working with Ibu Robin at YBS.
The feature will be preceded by a short video and presentation by Kate highlighting her experiences working in Bali as a midwifery apprentice at YBS. A Q&A will follow the screening.
